Names fill the pages of the Bible and are often ignored, especially in the long, seemingly endless genealogies. Yet because the Bible is full of names, names must also be important to the one who breathed the inspiration of these holy writings.
Names identify, have meaning and often tell a story. The Name Translation (TNT) is a version of the Bible where every name is defined to allow the readers to hear each name as it was likely understood in its original language.
The translation used in the TNT is the World English Bible (WEB), which is a modern English translation of the Holy Bible. The WEB was published in 2000 and is an updated revision of the 1901 American Standard Version (ASV). I have made a few changes to the text of the WEB to make it more reader friendly and updated wording or terms that might not be easily understood by readers.
